Back-End

Revenue share above breakeven, paid after guarantee.

Revenue the artist participates in above a defined breakeven point, paid in addition to the guarantee. Common in versus deals where the artist receives the greater of guarantee or X% of net box office. The 'back end' is the part of the deal that pays only when the show outperforms expectations. Stronger artists negotiate richer back-ends; supports typically take guarantee-only deals. Settlement is where back-end participation gets calculated.
