The hard time the show must end, usually imposed by local noise ordinance, venue lease, or surrounding-community agreement. Outdoor venues commonly have 10–11pm curfews; clubs run later. Going past curfew triggers escalating fines (some $5–10K per minute), bad relationships with neighbors, and possible license issues for the venue. Artist contracts include curfew provisions so the band knows when to wrap. A blown curfew is one of the few touring failures that puts a venue's operating license at real risk.
