Off Date

A day on the tour without a scheduled show.

A scheduled day off in the middle of a tour, usually to allow long drives between cities or to give the crew rest after a tough run. Off dates carry costs (the band still pays for hotels, per-diems, and bus drivers), but they're essential for sustainability on tours longer than 2–3 weeks. Agents try to book paid off-dates (a smaller show that covers expenses) when geography permits. Festival runs often have built-in off-dates between weekend headliner slots.
