The pre-show period (usually 30–90 minutes in the afternoon) where the band plays excerpts of songs to let the FOH and monitor engineers dial in the mix. Soundcheck order is typically: line check (mic each input), then play through key songs, then refine. Larger acts soundcheck for hours; clubs often have no soundcheck at all (line check only). Doors don't open until soundcheck is done; pushing soundcheck late ripples into door time, then set time, then curfew.
